You will be exclusive to your area and is up to you to be active and promote your business to your community. Radio and yellow page ads are expensive and does not reflect your personality to make a difference! You will hear me say “Make a Difference” all the Time.

It is time to get after it and build your business! First thing that needs to be done is to visit your local high schools and colleges and introduce yourself and business to the head coach and his assistants. Express to them that you are available to help their athletes to be better players. Give these guys some of your time to discuss your views on your specialty. Go out to the diamond or cage and show them your expertise. I would show up at a game or practice and let the coach know well in advance.

If you are a former MLB player and you appear at a game, this will be some super exposure for your business. This can be done as a promotion for the baseball program. The coach can let the opposing team know that you will be at the game. You will be there to analyze the players and get with the coaches later. After the game is when you will really shine, you will sign autographs, pictures, and tell stories. While this is going on you can hand out your business cards to those that are interested. Let all know that you would love to work with their sons.

This is just awesome for all of our business people to get out in the community and promote your business! Discuss other players and tell funny stories. Laugh and have fun because you want to make a difference!

This level is more important than the high school and college levels. This is where the game begins and we need to really concentrate on the youth baseball. Our writers and coaches are going to make a huge difference in creating enthusiasm, knowledge, and a passion for the game at this level!

Each league will have a meeting to discuss the coming season. This is where you need to show up and meet all the coaches. Before the association meeting begins you get in front and introduce yourself to the group. You go through your credentials and explain that you are there to help the coaches develop players.

Tell them that you would like to have a coach’s clinic to discuss baseball. This will be held on a Saturday before practices start for the players. I would go out to the diamond and really get after it! This is where I shine; I love to be on the diamond and instructing what needs to be done to be a successful coach, and teaching the players.  Have a lot of fun and show your personality. You can use your staff of coaches to really put on a show and impress all that are involved. This needs to be planned in advance so there can be an audience of parents and players.

After the clinic is over you will need to talk to the parents and players that were in attendance. MLB players can sign autographs and mingle in the crowd. Do not be in a hurry, you need to show sincerity and desire to improve and promote the game! You will need to have a table with brochures, business cards, and any memorabilia you may have.

MILB players you will do the same and will really need to tell stories about who you played with in the big show.  Talk about the bus rides and the life in the minors.

Business people and everyone can bring up who was influential in their baseball life. It is important to stress to coaches and players the value of getting a good education and to try to be the best that you can be everyday! You will be a walking billboard for baseball coaching and promoting the game! Do not rush, it shows insincerity! There will be a lot of parents that want to talk to you and ask all kinds of questions.

I would suggest to the association to run this as a fundraiser and grill hot dogs, brats and hamburgers. I would also serve something to drink and have parents volunteering. This could be a big community function if there is an ex MLB player involved. The association needs to let the community know about this special event.

It is a good idea to stay in contact with all of your baseball connections in your community. This is not a onetime deal; you need to glad hand and always be available! Show up at games and practices every once in a while and have some fun. Baseball is fun, so enjoy yourself, it is contagious! We will make a difference!

It is a must to get some adverting in you building. Good advertisers would be restaurants, ice cream shops, sporting goods stores, or any company that would like to be exposed to young athletes and their parents. There are also other organizations that are perfect for a business to spread the word. I am talking about the Lions, and Optimist Clubs in your area. These are business people that get together to talk business and raise funds for needy causes.

You can have deals for signups that receive a gift certificate from an advertiser. The advertisers will love the idea to get more business and exposure. The recipient of the certificate will just love to get something for free! There are so many ways to work with your advertiser that will help both of the businesses.

There is also a need for a newsletter that will be sent out at minimum of once a month.

I want to have a weekly show that I discuss what has happened in baseball and also what is going on with Big Dog Baseball USA. Our MT Professionals and Former Players will be the center of our marketing program. Once we get down the road our massage therapists will be the main pull once we form our groups. The group program is defined later in this plan!

After you have met the AD then see if you can meet the individual coaches. Express to them that you are available to help their athletes to be better players. Give these guys some of your time to discuss your views on your specialty. I would give a free massage to the athletic director! You don’t think he will share how you made him feel better and more relaxed. Make sure you leave them your business card and a nice brochure.

Take notes about each person that you met and keep the information in a notebook. You will need to make a visit about once a month to share your news and thank them for their business. If there is no news just drop by and hand out  some scratch pads.

The chances are the baseball teams have banners on the fence for advertisers. You can advertise and also work to be declared the official team massage therapist. At the home games you will be there to get the starting pitcher prepared to face the opposition. I would stay for the whole game and become part of the team. I bet with you doing volunteer work the banner will be free!

At the concession stand and where the fans arrive have your business cards and a nice brochure that will be professionally displayed. Everybody in the park will know that your company is in the dugout and doing a great job on the players. I would make sure that you are in some kind of uniform and periodically you can make the rounds and talk to the fans. They will want to know what you are doing and you can explain your capacity with the team and then hand out some business cards. I will bet that if you work hard, have fun and act professionally you will be able to work some of the other sports and pick up a lot of parents business!

On your website, brochure, and flyers you should state that you are a local youth sport supporter. You should work to have banners at as many parks as possible. I would start with one and grow from there.  If you can sponsor a team with their jersey and your company name on the back would be super.

I would have the parents put their name on a piece of paper so that you can have a drawing for a free massage! You can have the drawing at the end of a game in a couple of weeks. This will be the team drawing and you will need to make sure you have a couple of photos of the winner and his family. The photos will be put on your website for all to see! I would at the time of the drawing give all parents a $10.00 gift certificate for a massage! You have created an event that will be fun for all involved. If you have a local paper, it would be smart to let them know in advance you are running a promotion after this certain game for a local team. They may show up with a photographer to cover this event.

I would go to the local apartment complexes and introduce yourself to the apartment manager. Explain how you can help their tenants and that you would like to put a flyer on their bulletin board. She will also receive a free massage, and you know she will spread the word!

This massage can be done for all businesses whether an office or auto dealership. The workers will love the massage and the management will be happy with better morale and production.

This could end up being part of a Christmas bonus program or a special spiff for employees as a reward for a job well done. It can be an incentive for the company to reach certain figures. Try to work out a contract to be at the business once a month or whatever the boss decides.

The decision maker will receive a free massage if they participate on a regular basis. This will spread like a wild fire, with everybody involved telling their friends and family! The workers that receive the free back massage will book appointments at your shop down the road.  They can be enticed to receive a massage because you have your group and restaurants that you are working with to offer them a gift certificate.

It is important to make calls on these businesses and to develop a relationship. You will need to draw a radius around your shop, and strategically pick out about 10 businesses. The larger the number of employees the better, this will save you gas and your precious time. The best kind of company to start with is a business office. This works out well because they can still work from their station or office and receive a back massage.

An auto dealer would be a good client also, as a lot of them are owned by one individual. This means the word will spread real fast; I would target the dealerships that have more than one lot. What will need to happen is if you decide to work all the lots you can keep them all or hand the ones over to another MT if the distance is too far. You can communicate with another MT and suggest for her to get over to this other dealership. It is better if you can concentrate on several in your area and stay close to your business for the employees that want to book massages.

I would make another appointment to see the general manager after you have booked a contract to be there so many times a month. This appointment will be made after you have done your work several times and you have received some excellent reviews.

The nature of this appointment is to explain the benefit of using your company as a bonus for the sales people. This could be the icing on the cake, and it could be for the most sales for that given month. This could be run on a scale where the top dog gets a free massage! Number 2-5 the company can split the cost 50/50. This is a win for all that are involved!

Once this program has been run successfully you need to meet with the GM and explain the next project. Why not a free massage for any customer that buys a car? This could be a promotion that is run at all times or certain times of the year.

How do you get your foot in the door of these businesses? I would be prepared with scratch pads, pens, mugs and magnets. Then you will need a nice professional brochure and business cards.  These are all important tools for your business and should be with you on each call. You will need to have these tools in your car and ready for action.

The first visit it is very important to walk in and introduce yourself to the receptionist and hand her your business card. Be a professional but have fun with your conversation. Explain to her that you have an exciting business massage program for her company.  Ask her if she would enjoy a back massage once a month. Then you listen to her response, which will be positive. After she enthusiastically answers she would enjoy a massage, you reply I bet all your coworkers would enjoy our business massage program.

Then ask who would be the contact person to discuss what we have to offer your company. She will give you his name and you ask if she can deliver some material for him to check out. See if you can receive a business card for the contact person. Explain that if there are any questions the person in charge can give you a call; otherwise you will touch base in a couple of days to discuss the program and make an appointment.

You will then leave a couple of scratch pads and maybe a magnet, and then you are on your way!

It is important to sell yourself and to be very excited about the program that you hope to implement with this business. Sell your expertise, certifications, professionalism and most of all enjoy yourself! Enthusiasm is contagious and you will have the secretary on your side and she will tell others in the company about her experience with you! The employees will be your best selling tool!

After a couple of days you give the decision maker a call and introduce yourself. I would say how happy you are with the program that he will be introduced to in the meeting. Stress benefits for his company with better morale, and production. This will be a back and shoulders massage and guess what, they can still be working at their desk! You will then schedule the appointment and then you tell him you are looking forward to explaining the massage benefits for his company!

On the day of the meeting arrive 15 minutes early and if possible have a little chat with the receptionist that you met earlier. When you walk in to meet the boss you are prepared, and you greet him and give him your business card. This is the time you go through your presentation on how this program will benefit his business. The brochure he received earlier will go through in detail the benefits of using your company as a massage therapist.

You will need to find out how many employees are going to be participating. It will be best to figure an hour to an hour and a half for the first company massage and probably 5 minutes per client. Then before you give him what the cost will be, it is very important for him to receive what the employee massage will feel like and do the whole 5 minutes. You will at this time explain what you are doing and the benefit this has for better health, and relaxation.

After you have completed the massage and he is all relaxed and feeling like a champ! You will then explain the cost and the benefits for his employees and business. You will not high pressure for a contract but will recommend a business massage appointment to prove how well this will work for his business. When he accepts your proposal, you will then award him with a restaurant gift certificate. You should have available $10-$25 certificates for this business. There will be other options from others in your group that can be used as an award. Others in your group will have your company gift certificates available to use like you are doing with this company.

The business massage date is when you will be at your best! When you are doing your work there is a need to be quiet if the employees are in their work mode. After you are done hand over your business card, referral card and a flyer and say thank you. When you are done with your work, if possible you can say goodbye to the decision maker.

I think there is a need for a referral program to reel in more business. A referral card that a client can fill out and pass out to friends and family who have never been a customer of —-. The new client will receive $10.00 off their first visit! When this new client comes in to your shop for an appointment and presents your referral card, they will go into a file and they will receive a $10.00 credit towards their next visit! These credits can build up for future massages! You can also offer your restaurants and other company’s offers from your group.

The groups can share offers with each other, for example buy a life insurance policy and receive a free massage. The MT Pro and the insurance agent can figure out the logistics of the promotional offer. There can be a lot of offers being worked between hair salons and our MT Pros! It would benefit everyone to get together every month or so and discuss ways to market as a group. I will be able to help on some of the special events.

Your business needs to have your own magnets, cooler cups, pens and etc. It would be super to come up with something catchy or different to go on a t shirt with your company logo and name. Hats, t-shirts shorts, and jackets are a must.  Business cards and a nice brochure are important tools that need to be handed out.

Run a contest once a month and let everybody in your marketing group in on the project. This could be a drawing for a free massage or a deal from a merchant in your group. You could buy some baseball tickets and have a contest to select the winner. You can ask a player to write a story about the person or persons that was influential in his baseball life. You will have your web viewers vote on who had the best story.

The non athletic customers can have a drawing and at a certain time the card will be pulled out of the box and the winner will receive a free massage, coffee cup, t shirt, or something from another member of your group!

All of these promotions will have a photo taken and will be viewed on the company site. Use all of these occasions to promote your company and the group.

You can name your group and have a BBQ as a company or a group! Think about your group advertising together in the local paper website or news print! There is so much that can be done as a group to keep your costs down and to get a lot of exposure! We will help all of our writers as much as possible!

I am offering a referral program for all of our writers! Our business people refer a writer and they sign up to be a part of our exciting business, we will give a $10.00 credit or a check for the referral! The credit will go to paying the next year’s annual fee or if there is no fee you will receive a $10.00 check!

It is important to grow our writers as fast as possible so that we can form our groups. Our main writers are former players, business people, massage therapist, college baseball players, and soon to be chiropractors, and Drs. for athletes. Once we have about 40-50 writers on board then we will run our press releases all over the country! There is no other business that is doing what we are doing! Big Dog Baseball USA will have a tab that will say Meet Our Writers, but it will be broken down to Professional Players, Business, Massage, College Players, and Causes. Each writer will have a profile.

This is important for writers that have speciality items, for example books videos and etc. We will have a specialty tab, I will review the product and  it will be seen by many readers!

Big Dog Baseball USA is an organization dedicated to teaching, discussing, and interacting with baseball fans all across America. Our goal is to teach, explain and promote the game to the masses!
